Two months old

Keegan is already two months old. He is growing so fast. Keegan can hold his head up on his own most of the time already- he is so strong. He is also quite big-- greater than the 95th percentile in both height and weight at 15 pounds 2.5 oz and 24 3/4 inches long- he has already grown out of all of his 3 month clothes and is now in 6 month clothes. He is starting to get frustrated with the moby if he is awake so he got to go shopping in the sling this week and seemed much happier to be able to look all around. Keegan squeals and smiles and coos and looks at people and toys- he is getting pretty interactive.  He hates tummy time, loves snuggles and is a pretty chill lil dude.

8 weeks old

Keegan is already 8 weeks old!
We had kind of a rough week during week 7- Keegan could not or would not sleep for more than 30-45 minutes and mommy was exhausted and therefore not her best self. Therefore, mommy and Keegan are sharing a bed again and it seems as though sleep is getting back on track- Keegan has been sleeping in three hour chunks again for the last few days and that is much more doable.
Keegan is getting very strong- he can mostly hold his head up, can push up a little when on his tummy, smiles, squeals and is generally precious.
He is already outgrowing his 0-3 month clothes so this weekend we will need to wash and get all of his 3-6 month sized clothes ready.  He has his two month appointment next week- I can hardly wait to see how much he has grown.

Six weeks old

Keegan is six weeks old already and growing rapidly! We went to the doctor today and discovered that he is already 13 pounds 9.5 ounces and healthy as can be- though he does have cradle cap on his head, face and neck which is bugging him a bit. Thankfully Dr Jen thinks a little Head N Shoulders should make him more comfortable and help it resolve so no biggie.
Keegan is sleeping fairly well again- generally a four hour stretch at the beginning of each night and then he likes to nurse every two hours after that which can be a bit rough when he nurses for an hour and then wants to start all over again an hour later.

Since six weeks have already passed I am headed back to work two days a week- which hopefully will be a nice balance. By heading back part time this early I get to extend my leave by not having to work full time until January 27th- a full 5.5 weeks later than I would have had to return if I took all of my leave at once full time.  I am excited- to work a little and to have so long before I have to be at work 5 days a week.

Smiles

We have been thinking Keegan has been smiling for a week or so now... but it has been tricky to elicit.  One day Ryan got him to smile playing with his blanket and running it across Keegan's lips and face.  Another evening he was smiling while watching the ceiling fan but it was quick and couldn't be captured.
But today Keegan was enjoying a big talk with his dad and brother and the smiles just kept coming! Amazing how much joy it fills us with.
